Carolyn Wilson Scott



LANCASTER, SC ~ Mrs. Carolyn Wilson Scott, age 93, passed away peacefully at home, Wednesday, October 24, 2018. She was born November 7, 1924 in Lancaster, a daughter of the late Evan Clyburn Wilson and Ruth Riddle Wilson and was the wife of the late Donald Bruce Scott, Sr. Mrs. Scott served as bookkeeper and later retired from the family business, Wilson Gas and Oil Company. She loved to sing and play the piano, and while she loved Lancaster, her real happy place was the beach. She loved playing bridge with Don and their friends. She was a member of the DAR, Lancaster Garden Club and the AuCourant Book Club and was a founding member of The Good Shepherd United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Scott is survived by her children, Trudy Sykes and her husband, Steve, Bruce Scott and his wife, Carole, Evan Scott and his wife, Stephanie, and Philip Scott and his wife, Ann; twelve grandchildren, Jason Sykes, Nathaniel Sykes, Lauren Kauppi, Sarah Gravesen, Jeffrey Scott, Allison Scott, John Scott, Megan Scott, Katie Scott, Wilson Scott, Anna Scott, and Gracie Scott; and eight great-grandchildren, Max Sykes, Charles Sykes, Evalyn Sykes, Alexander Sykes, Zachary Sykes, Jonathan Gravesen, Lila Scott, and Maren Scott.

Mrs. Scott was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald B. “Don” Scott, Sr. and two sisters, Luellyn Wilson Clancy and Ruth Elizabeth “Lib” Wilson.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mrs. Scott will be 3:30 pm Sunday, October 28, 2018 at The Good Shepherd United Methodist Church by Rev. Timothy Espar. Burial will be private.

The family will receive friends from 2:30 – 3:30 pm in the church fellowship hall and suggest memorial contributions be made to Donald B. and Carolyn W. Scott Academic Endowed Scholarship at USC-Lancaster, PO Box 889, Lancaster, SC 29721. The family would like to express their thanks to her caregivers, Karen and Kay.
