Michael Moore



LANCASTER, SC - Mr. Michael Moore, age 71, passed away Saturday, October 13, 2018 at the William Jennings Bryan Dorn VA Medical Center in Columbia, SC. He was born December 20, 1946 in Lancaster, a son of the late Herman Moore and Eva Small Moore McCoy. Michael was the husband of the late Laraine Lucas Moore. After high school, he started his own Heating & Air business in Columbia, SC and later relocated to his home town, Lancaster. He loved fishing, spending time on the lake, gardening and helping others. Michael was happiest when he was spending time with his family. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict in 1968.

Michael is survived by a daughter, Michelle Moore; a son, Jason Moore, both of Columbia; four grandchildren, Alex Moore, Ashley Moore, Addison Moore, and Jalen Moore; a brother, William H. “Butch” Moore, Jr. (Jerri); a sister, Deborah Moore Blackmon (William) of Lancaster; a step-son, Eddie Broughton (Emily) and children, all of Atmore, AL; a step-daughter, Kimberly Jay (Kendall) and children, all of Uriah, AL; a sister-in-law, Rebecca Moore; many nieces and nephews; and Cheryl Senn, the mother of his two children.

Michael was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; his step-father, Melvin Ray McCoy; and a brother, Jimmy Dwayne Moore.

The Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Mr. Moore will be 3:00 pm Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home by Rev. Wayne Pruitt.

The family will receive friends following the service at the home of his sister, Deborah Blackmon.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to his caregivers, Deborah Moore Blackmon, sister, and Krista Larrimore, great niece.
