Betty Williams Plyler



LANCASTER, SC ~ Mrs. Betty Williams Plyler, age 90, died Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at Springs Memorial Hospital. She was born March 29, 1927 in Lancaster, a daughter of the late Lester Williams and Evoritte Lynn Williams and was the wife of the late Amos Leon Plyler. Mrs. Plyler retired from Springs Industries and was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church.

Mrs. Plyler is survived by a daughter, Elaine Plyler Shurley and her husband, Rev. Dr. Lynn Shurley of Paducah, KY; three grandchildren, Britton Shurley and his wife, Amelia, Justin Shurley and his wife, Amy, and Tara Derrington; and three great grandchildren,

Mrs. Plyler was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Michael Plyler; three sisters, Dot Gregory, Mary Ellen Carnes and Carol Reed; and two brothers, Hal Williams and Lester Williams.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mrs. Plyler will be 11:00 AM Friday, October 13, 2017 at Bethlehem Baptist Church by Rev. Jason Myers and Rev. Don Coppedge. Burial will be prior to the service at 10:00 AM in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends following the service in the Family Life Center and suggest memorial contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association, 2451 Crystal Drive, Suite 900, Arlington, VA 22202 or the National Kidney Foundation, Finance Department, 30 East 33rd Street, New York, NY 10016.
