LANCASTER, SC ~ Mr. Woodrow Grady Woody Williams, age 98, passed away Sunday, April 22, 2018 at his home. He was born June 4, 1919 in Lancaster, a son of the late Wesley Jasper Williams and Ada Rodgers Williams and was the husband of Louise Barnes Williams. Mr. Williams was a 66-year member of the Plumbers and Steam Fitters Local Union in Charlotte and served as President for 15 years. He was in the Senior Circle with Springs Memorial Hospital and was a former Mason. His family remembers his great sense of humor. He was a loving grandfather and even though he had grandchildren who were not biological, they remember him as one the best men they knew and loved him as their grandfather. Mr. Williams was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Williams is survived by his wife of 27 years, Louise Barnes Williams; two daughters, Barbara Bonat and her husband, Greg of West Virginia and Kay B. Crapps and her husband, Michael of Lexington, SC; a son, Roger Barnes and his wife, Gloria of Greer, SC; five grandchildren, William Loudermilk and his wife, Michele, Julian Barnes and his wife, Christine; Kelley Myrick and her husband, Hugh, Megan Plexico and her husband, Drake, Chad Stewart and his wife, Kristin; seven great grandchildren; and a sister, Linda Dennis of Lancaster.
Mr. Williams was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Lois Moore Williams; a granddaughter, Carolyn Loudermilk; two brothers, Clyde Williams and Bob Williams; and a sister, Louise Williams.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Barbara Stratford for all her love and care for Woody.
The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mr. Williams will be 3:00 pm Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at Grace Presbyterian Church by Rev. Marty Simmons. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 pm 3:00 pm Wednesday in the church parlor and in lieu of flowers, suggest memorial contributions be made to Grace Presbyterian Church General Fund, 1026 Grace Avenue, Lancaster, SC 29720.
