LANCASTER, SC:::::::::: Mr. Winfored Pierce "Winnie" Leaphart, age 87, of 131 Niven Road, died Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at his home. He was born October 23, 1922 in Gilbert SC, the son of the late Joseph Burleigh Leaphart and Sally Taylor Leaphart. Mr. Leaphart was twice married; first to the late Sara Steele Leaphart and secondly to the late Miriam Crenshaw Leaphart. Mr. Leaphart taught, served as principal and director of the Vocational Center for Indian Land High School for 37 years, was a lifetime member of the Indian Land PTA, Indian Land Masonic Lodge and a member of Osceola United Methodist Church. Mr. Leaphart is survived by a daughter Lynn Leaphart Browne and her husband Ron of Rock Hill, a son, Randy Pierce Leaphart and his wife Gail of Greenville, NC, grandchildren; Alan Michael Browne and step grandchildren, Chris Browne and his wife Ashley, Sarah Vaughn and her husband John, and Chad Knowles and his wife Heather, step great grandchildren, Cate Vaughn and Grayson Browne, a brother, C.D. Smith, and a sister, Margaret Smith and Miriam's children; Chris Grayson and her husband Paul and Rob Lawton and his wife Sue. Mr. Leaphart was preceded in death by a brother Bill Leaphart, and 2 sisters, Annie Lee Craps and Frances Dudley.The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mr. Leaphart will be 11am Friday, July 16, 2010 at Osceola United Methodist Church by Rev. Eric Shepard with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
