LANCASTER, SC ~ Mr. William Frank Thomas, age 83, passed away at his home Saturday, August 25, 2018. He was born June 10, 1935 in Bainbridge, GA, the son of the late Charlie Thomas and Annie Smith Thomas and the husband of the late Mary McAteer Thomas. Mr. Thomas was a Special Agent with the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division for over 30 years and also served four years in the United States Army. Mr. Thomas enjoyed dirt track racing, where he was the flagman for many years, gardening, working on cars, making walking canes, and moving dirt using a bulldozer and backhoe. He loved his grandchildren and his dogs. Mr. Thomas was a member of Zion United Methodist Church
Mr. Thomas is survived by three sons, Danny Lamar Thomas (Tonette), Byran Thomas (Karen), and Jeffrey Thomas, all of Lancaster, SC; one brother, Leon Godwin of Bainbridge, GA; two sisters, Lois Adams and Levon Parker, both of Lancaster; three grandchildren, Michael (Brenda) Thomas, Evan (Ashley) Thomas, Larry (Heather) Parr; six great-grandchildren, Tra Thomas, Hailey Thomas, Madilyn Thomas, Mason Parr, Ella Parr, and Emerie Parr; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Thomas was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a son, Larry Thomas, two brothers, Wilbert Thomas and Charles Thomas; and one sister, Louise Adams.
The Celebration of Life Graveside Service for Mr. Thomas will be 11:00 am Monday at Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery by Rev. Michael Jerrell and Rev. Charles Hammond.
The family will receive friends following the graveside service in the Family Life Center at Zion United Methodist Church, 1665 Zion Rd, Lancaster, SC and other times at the home of Danny Thomas. The family suggest memorials be made to Zion United Methodist Church, 1665 Zion Rd, Lancaster, SC 29720 or Kindred Hospice, 223 S. Herlong Ave #120, Rock Hill, SC 29732.
The family wants to extend a special thank you to Max and Myra Funderburk, and the staff at Kindred Hospice in Rock Hill.
