COLUMBIA, SC ~ Mr. William Norman Robinson of Columbia, SC, formerly of Lancaster, SC, passed away at his home Wednesday, June 13, 2018. He was born May 15, 1932 in Lancaster, the son of the late Oscar Cleveland Robinson and Della Adams Robinson and was the husband of Joann Johnson Robinson. Mr. Robinson graduated from Buford High School. After serving four years in the United States Air Force, he was employed with Springs Industries for 36 years and retired from the Springs Executive office in Fort Mill, SC as Senior Purchasing Manager. He was a member of Second Baptist Church Lancaster for over 50 years, where he served in many capacities including, Chairman of Building Committee, Chairman of Deacons, Chairman of Long Range Planning Committee, Pastor Search Committee, Sunday School Teacher, and a choir member for 46 years. Mr. Robinson moved to Columbia, SC in 2012 where he joined Riverland Hills Baptist Church and greatly enjoyed his Friendship Sunday School class.

Mr. Robinson is survived by his wife of 63 years, Joann; a sister, Nadine Ghent of Lancaster; a brother-in-law, Lewis B. Johnson (Dorothy) of Columbia, SC; a sister-in-law, Billie Robinson of Fort Mill, SC; three very special nephews, Todd B. Johnson (Sandy) of Chapin, SC and Michael Brett Johnson (Sonya) of Lexington, SC and Alan Rae (Misty) of Columbia, SC; four special grandchildren, Katie and Emma Johnson of Chapin, SC and Bryce and Connor Johnson of Lexington, SC; an honorary daughter, Susie Nichols (Dennis) of Lancaster; two honorary grandchildren, Matthew Nichols (Jordan) of Columbia, SC and Sarah Gennie (Rickele) of Columbia, SC; and many nieces and nephews in Lancaster.

Mr. Robinson was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Mae Sims and Alma Clark; three brothers, Fred Robinson, Vernon Robinson and Harvey Robinson.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mr. Robinson will be 3:00 pm Saturday, June 16, 2018 at Second Baptist Church, 1426 Great Falls Hwy, Lancaster, SC by Dr. Brian Saxon, Rev. Larry Helm and Rev. Emery Smith. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm 3:00 pm, one hour prior to the service, Saturday, June 16, 2018 at the church and suggest memorials be made to Second Baptist Church, 1426 Great Falls Hwy., Lancaster, SC 29720 or Riverland Hills Baptist Church, 201 Lake Murray Blvd., Irmo, SC 29063.
