LANCASTER, SC :::::::::: Mr. William Neal "Billy" Sperry, Sr., age 55, died Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. He was born July 30, 1953 in Greenwood, SC, the son of Charles Elbert Sperry and Frances McDonald Sperry and was the husband of Marlene Hill Sperry. Mr. Sperry was employed with Chester Wood Products, of the Methodist faith, loved his family and Clemson football.Mr. Sperry is survived by his wife, Marlene Hill Sperry of the home, his parents, Charles E. and Frances McDonald Sperry of Greenwood, a son, William Neal Sperry, Jr. of Lancaster, 2 daughters, Sandy Sperry Spoone and her husband Travis of Greenwood and Charlcie Sperry of Greenville, SC, 2 grandchildren, Kayla Spoone and Will Spoone, a brother, Keith Sperry and his wife Cathy, and 2 sisters, Pam Jones and her husband Neal and Wendy Carwile all of Greenwood.Mr. Sperry was preceded in death by a brother, Sonny Sperry.The Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Mr. Sperry will be 3:00 pm, Saturday afternoon, July 25, 2009 at Hartley Funeral Home Chapel by Dr. Shane Owens and Mr. Robert Whitesides. The Family will receive friends one hour before service time, from 2:00 - 3:00 pm at the funeral home and suggest in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International, 120 Wall Street, 19th Floor, New York, NY 10005 or the Celiac Disease Foundation, 13251 Ventura Boulevard, Suite 1, Studio City, CA 91604.
