Hogue

On November 20, 2019, William Jackson Hogue passed away at the Pineville Intensive Care Cardiac unit, in Charlotte, NC. He is survived by his wife June Carroll Hogue, son Anthony Hogue (Maura) of Clayton California, Tracy Hogue Berger (Todd) of Cary, North Carolina and Step-son Stephen Puckett, Sr. (Beth) of Charlotte, NC. Grandchildren Logan Hogue (Caroline), Tanner Hogue, (Samantha) Dalton Hogue, Stephen Puckett, Jr., Mitchell Puckett (Abby), Laura Puckett Fout (Wyatt), and Mary Blake Morehouse (Raymond), Travis and Tyler Berger and 13 great-grandchildren.
Bill was born in Albany, California to John Meridith Hogue and Mamie Phillips Hogue, now deceased, growing up in North Plainfield, New Jersey from the age of eight, graduating from North Plainfield High School. He then graduated from the University of California – Berkeley with a B.S. degree. After serving in the U.S. Army as a Lieutenant he began his career with the Bell System as manager in various positions with Pacific Bell. He married June in 1981 and they transferred to New Jersey where he worked with AT&T International until his retirement in 1991 when they moved to Highlands, NC where they passed the state licensing to become Real Estate Appraisers forming the Highlands Appraisal Company which they operated until 2007 when they sold that business.
Bill was very involved in the Sumerset Hills Baptist Church in Basking Ridge, NJ where he was ordained to serve as a deacon. He served in various church committees wherever he was a member and enjoyed taking part in the music programs of the churches. In 2015 they sold their house in Highlands and moved to a 55+ retirement community in Indian Land, SC where he has been involved in a special Sunday School class at the Fort Mill First Baptist Church as well as enjoying a weekly Bible study group at the Sun City development.
To know Bill was to love him and his Christian integrity as well as to know of his devotion to June and his family. He will be greatly missed by all who called him their friend.
