LANCASTER, SC – William Allen Hinson, Jr., age 91, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2026, at White Oak Manor Lancaster. Mr. Hinson was born on August 22, 1934, in Lancaster, SC, the son of the late William Allen Hinson, Sr. and the late Minnie Faile Hinson.

Mr. Hinson proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. Prior to going into service, he won the golf championship while working at the Lancaster Golf Club. He was employed as a detective with the Lancaster County Sherrif’s Office and was Police Chief with the Kershaw County Police Department. His hobbies included rabbit hunting, listening to dogs run, reloading bullets, and fishing. Mr. Hinson was a Mason and a Shriner.

He is survived by his son, Christopher “Chris” Allen Hinson; daughter, Cindy Hinson; and three grandchildren, Matthew Allen Crook, William Allen Hinson, IV, and Lauren Hinson.

He was preceded in death by a son, William Allen Hinson, III; his parents, William, Sr. and Minnie Hinson; and his sister, Nancy Doster.

The Celebration of Life Graveside Service for Mr. Hinson will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, June 22, 2026, at Taxahaw Baptist Church Cemetery, officiated by Rev. Dale Walters.
