LANCASTER, SC:::::::::::Mr. William Eugene "Gene" Adams, age 81, passed away September 29, 2014 quietly at home surrounded by his family. He was born June 23, 1933 in Lancaster County, the son of the late William Cletus Adams and Inez Baker Adams and was the husband of Marcene Helms Adams. Mr. Adams retired after 47 years from Springs Industries, was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed fishing, gardening and family.

Mr. Adams is survived by his wife of 62 years Marcene Helms Adams, 2 daughters, Teresa Blackmon and her husband Ernest and Debra Fulton and her husband Joel both of Lancaster, 3 sisters, Sybil Lynn, Carol Caskey and Bonnie Twite all of Lancaster, 4 grandchildren, Chris Fulton, Michael Fulton, Stacey Blackmon, and Rachael Blackmon, and 4 great grandchildren, Skylar Brown, Melanie Fulton, Mackenzie Fulton, and Troy Fulton.

Mr. Adams was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Danny Ray Adams and William "Buck" Adams, Jr. and a sister, Helen Sullivan.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mr. Adams will be 2:00 pm Thursday, October 2, 2014 at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home by Rev. Mike Catoe. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.

The Family will receive friends from 1:00 - 2:00 pm Thursday October 2, 2014 at Burgess Funeral Home, 1800 Charlotte Highway, Lancaster, SC and other times at the home. Memorials may be made to Home Care and Hospice of Lancaster, 902 W. Meeting Street, Suite A, Lancaster SC 29720.
