ROCK HILL, SC – Mr. William Scott Estridge, known as Bill or Scottie, age 81, passed away Monday, November 11, 2024 at his home. He was born in Great Falls, SC on February 27, 1943 to the late William Marion Estridge and the late Buna Jeanette Scott Estridge. After growing up in Lancaster, SC, he attended Kings College in Charlotte, NC and later earned his Business Degree from Limestone University. Mr. Estridge retired from Springs Industries where he served in many management positions throughout his career.
In his late teenage years and early 20's, Mr. Estridge's love for beach music inspired him to participate in a beach music band – The Nomads. Throughout his life, his love for beach music continued to be a great love. He enjoyed helping set up and attending the Carolina Shaggin' Beach Music Group. Mr. Estridge loved old cars and attending car shows. He had a passion for Corvettes as he owned many during his life, as well as an Austin Healy. Mr. Estridge loved watching movies, being outdoors, boating on Lake Wateree, playing golf, and was an avid runner. He ran marathons in Maggie Valley, Charlotte 10K's, and over the Cooper River Bridge. Mr. Estridge loved his family dearly, and our great nation. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Rock Hill, SC.
Mr. Estridge is survived by his wife, Kathleen "Kathy" Cotton Estridge; his daughter, Elicia "Dawne" Estridge Reddeck, and her husband, Keith; two grandsons, Preston Reddeck, and his wife, Maggie, and Griffin Reddeck; two great-grandsons, Sawyer and Forest Reddeck; his sister, Marion Starnes; three nephews, Mark Starnes, Michael Starnes, and Billy McCants.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Buna Estridge; his sister and brother-in-law, Myra and Dale McCants; and his nephew, Brent McCants.
The Celebration of Life Service for Mr. Estridge will be 12:00 pm, Friday, December 6, 2024 at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home officiated by Pastor Jamie Burdette. Inurnment will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 11:30 am - 12:00 pm, half an hour prior to the service at Burgess Funeral Home.
