LANCASTER, SC:::::::::: Mr. William Edward "Bill" Small, age 86, died Saturday, May 8, 2010 at the Lancaster Convalescent Center. He was born January 15, 1924 in Lancaster County, the son of the late Dewey Small and Ethel Bennett Small. He retired from the Merchant Marines after 37 years of service and was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Small was raised by the late Roy and Virginia Small of Lancaster due to the early death of his parents. He is survived by a brother, J.B. Hegler of Winnsboro and a sister, Mollye Player and her husband Harold of Lancaster and a number of nieces and nephews. Mr. Small was preceded in death by four brothers, James E. Small, Roy Small, Jr., Frank Small and Joe Small and a sister, Erleen Small Heher. The Celebration of Life Graveside Funeral Service for Mr. Small will be 11:00 am, Monday, May 10, 2010 at Westside City Cemetery by Rev. Tim Anderson and Dr. Harold Owens with burial to follow.
