LANCASTER, SC – Mr. William “Dub” Jackson Snipes, age 84, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 2, 2026, at Atrium Health Union. He was born on November 14, 1941, in Lancaster, SC and was the son of the late James Sanford Snipes and the late Angeline Snipes Merritt and was the beloved husband of the late Sylvia Joyce Hunter Snipes.

Mr. Snipes treasured the time he spent with his family and friends. He was happiest in his shop, where he could often be found restoring and working on classic cars, trucks, and tractors. He also enjoyed gathering with his friends in the "Liars Club," where laughter was plentiful and everyone tried to outdo one another with the best story of the day. A dedicated brick mason, Mr. Snipes faithfully worked for the same company for 43 years, a testament to his strong work ethic, loyalty, and commitment.

He is survived by his daughter, Lisa Moree (Danny); his grandchildren, Hilisha Snipes (Jason), Billie Joe Arant (Dustin), and Daniel Moree (Angela); his great-grandchildren, Timothy Hammond (Madison), Kaitlyn Duncan (Hunter), Matthew Hammond, Logan Duncan, Braxton Moree, and Braeleigh Moree; his great-great granddaughter, Wrenlee Crenshaw; his two sisters, Frances McKnight and Virginia Boling (Jim); and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, S. Joyce Hunter Snipes; his son, Rev. Calvin Snipes and his wife, Kim Snipes; his parents, James Snipes and Angeline Merritt; his brothers, James Snipes and Jimmy Simpson; and his sister, Elenor Snipes.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mr. Snipes will be at 11:00 am on Monday, July 6, 2026, at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home, officiated by Bishop Jim Outen. Burial will follow at Shiloh APR Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour before the service from 10:00 am – 11:00 am.
