LANCASTER, SC:::::::::: Mr. William Christopher "Bill" Blackmon, Jr., age 86, died Saturday, September 26, 2015. He was born May 26, 1929 in Princeton, KY, a son of the late William Christopher Blackmon, Sr. and Mamie Coleman Blackmon. Mr. Blackmon was a self-employed master mechanic. He loved horses, Nascar, dirt track racing and built race cars. He served our great country in United States Army during the Korean conflict and is a member of Roddey Baptist Church in Fort Lawn.
Mr. Blackmon is survived by three sons, Harold Blackmon and his wife, Diane of Charlotte, Chris Blackmon and his wife, Aletha and Mark Blackmon both of Fort Lawn; a daughter, Ellen Blackmon Beckham and her husband, Larry of Lancaster; his former wife and the mother of his children, Ruth Harper Blackmon of Lancaster; a sister, Betty Jane Bundy and her husband, Curtis of Iva, SC; seven grandchildren, Derek Blackmon, Samuel Blackmon (Jennifer), Crystal Shaw (Frank), Jonathan Blackmon (Amanda), Tiffany Smith (Michael), Jeffrey Steele, and Jayda Blackmon, two step grandchildren, Katrina Smith (Jimmy) and Jeremy Beckham, eight great grandchildren, Dylan and Aydan Blackmon, Landon and Tanner Blackmon, Alyssa, Ashlyn and Delaney Shaw, and Reagan Blackmon, and three step great grandchildren, Austin, Brooke and Ethan.
Mr. Blackmon was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Blackmon and a sister, Barbara Powell and her husband DeLeon.
The Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Mr. Blackmon will be 2:00 pm, Thursday, October 1, 2015 at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home by Rev. Ronnie Helms.
The Family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home and in lieu of flowers, suggest memorial contributions be made to Roddey Baptist Church, 2678 South Anderson Road, Catawba, SC 29704.
The family will be at his home and the home of his son, Chris Blackmon.
The Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Mr. Blackmon will be 2:00 pm, Thursday, October 1, 2015 at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home by Rev. Ronnie Helms.
