LANCASTER, SC::::::::: Mr. William (Bill) Marvin Blackwell, age 77, of 1429 Westmoreland Drive, died Saturday, February 5, 2011 at CMC Pineville. He was born December 31, 1933 in Mecklenburg County. He was a son of the late Chalmers B. Blackwell and the late Lillian N. Blackwell. He was married to Elfreida Walters Blackwell. Mr. Blackwell retired in 1995 from Kanawha Insurance Company as a sales representative and prior sales representative for Pilot Life Insurance Company. He was an active member of First Baptist Church of Lancaster where he served in the choir for many years. He was a former member of the Lancaster Community Playhouse, and past secretary of the Lancaster Lions Club, and a shriner with Hejaz Shrine Temple. Mr. Blackwell is survived by his wife of 54 years, Elfreida Walters Blackwell of Lancaster, a daughter, Denise B. Richardson and husband Monte Richardson of Charlotte NC, a granddaughter, Heather A. Witkowski and husband Jon, and grandson, Greyson C. Richardson, 2 brothers, Ervin F. Blackwell of Kershaw and C.B. Blackwell of Lancaster, 1 sister, Irene N. Kennington of Lancaster and many nieces and nephews. The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mr. Blackwell will be 2:00 pm Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at First Baptist Church of Lancaster by Rev. Jim Herron and Rev. Coyt Auten. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park. The Family of Mr. Blackwell will receive friends Monday evening February 7, 2011 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Hartley Funeral Home. The family suggests memorials be made to First Baptist Church music ministry P.O. Box 670 Lancaster, S.C 29721.
