Obituary

LANCASTER, SC –Mr. Michael Wayne Adams, age 73, passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2024. He was born, April 25, 1950, in Lancaster, son of the late Yancy Newman Adams and the late Louise Thomas Adams and was the husband of Nancy Bowers Adams. Mr. Adams was a very talented contractor who loved woodworking and his time working in the sawmill. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed riding his tractor, fox hunting, mowing grass, gardening, cutting wood, building and sitting by a fire, and horseback riding in his younger years. Mr. Adams loved eating boiled peanuts, his Saturday steaks at the Wagon Wheel, and Ms. Ann Duncan's seven-layer chocolate cake. He was always willing to help others especially his family. Mr. Adams greatest joys were riding the golf cart and spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed team roping with his nephews. Mr. Adams was a member of Camp Creek Baptist Church and served as a deacon in past years.

Mr. Adams is survived by his wife of 54 years; Nancy Adams; his two children, Tammy Adams Medlin (Shawn), and Dwayne Adams (Brittany); six grandchildren, Devan Medlin, Dalton Medlin, Savannah Medlin, Levi Adams, Shelby Medlin, and Huck Adams; four brothers, Buck Adams, Bill Adams (Diana), Howard "Harry" Adams, and Jack Adams (Darnell); three sisters, Becky Kirkley (Kenny), Carol Adams, and Cindy Catoe (Jimmy); and a large extended family.

He was preceded in death by his son, Thomas Dwayne Adams; his parents, Yancy and Louise Adams; and his brother, Ben Adams.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be 3:00 pm Monday, January 15, 2024, at Camp Creek Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Larry Plyler, Pastor Randy Mellichamp, and Chaplain Lynn Haines. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm– 7:00 pm, Sunday, January 14, 2023 at Burgess Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to The American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741 or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
