LANCASTER, SCMr. Walter Colon Williams, Jr., age 71, died Saturday, November 26, 2016 at his home. He was born August 29, 1945 in Lancaster, a son of the late Walter Colon Williams, Sr. and Ruth Plyler Williams and was the husband of Mary Ballard Williams. Mr. Williams retired from Springs Industries and was a Mason with the Camp Creek Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and dirt track racing. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and was a member of Zion United Methodist Church.
Mr. Williams is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mary Ballard Williams; a son, Butch Williams and wife Kendra of Lancaster; two daughters, Angie Lloyd of Columbia and Missy Parker and husband Jimmy also of Lancaster; five grandchildren, Matthew Williams, Reagan Williams, Alyson Parker, Zachary Parker and Lathan Porter; and his special adopted grandchildren, Jillian Walters and Nick Chavis.
Mr. Williams was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Billy Williams, a sister, Colleen Funderburk, a granddaughter, Karli Parker and twin great grandsons, Carson Walter Williams and Ellison Corey Williams.
The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mr. Williams will be 11:00 am Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at Zion United Methodist Church by Rev. Mike Burgess, Rev. Trent McLaughlin and Rev. Todd Robinson. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 8:00 pm, Monday evening, November 28, 2016 at Burgess Funeral Home and suggest memorials contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 128 Stonemark Lane, Columbia, SC 29210.
