Mr. Walter Elliott White, age 88, died Saturday, October 22, 2016 at Springs Memorial Hospital. He was born May 23, 1928 in Lancaster, a son of the late Walter Evans White and Bertha Caskey White. Mr. White was the husband of Kathryn Croxton White. He retired from Springs Industries as General Office Manager. Mr. White served in the United States Army and served in Germany for one year. He loved the outdoors, golf, deep sea fishing and boat riding at the river. Mr. and Mrs. White loved traveling. He loved his family and was very family oriented. He was a very active member of First Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, an usher and drove the bus for the youth and senior adults trips. Mr. White visited the shut-ins and nursing homes and shared copies of the Sunday message and devotional books with them.

Mr. White is survived by his wife of 66 years, Kathryn White; two daughters, Judy White Rowley and her husband, Rob, of Oregon, and Joy White Cudd and her husband, Dennis, of Lancaster; a sister, Becky Hendrix; two grandchildren, Stephen Cudd and Rase Rowley; four great grandchildren, Bella-Jo, Charlotte, Grayson and Phenton.

Mr. White was preceded in death by a brother, Tommy White; three sisters, Dot Montgomery, Agnes Yarborough and Mary Carnes; and a granddaughter, Jessica Cudd.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mr. White will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at First Baptist Church by Rev. Randy Hatcher. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park
