LANCASTER, SC ~ Mr. Walter Eugene "Gene" Sanders, Sr., age 63, passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at his home.  He was born on November 29, 1955 in Chester, SC, the son of the late Joe Curtis Sanders and Lottie Hunter Sanders.  He retired from Springs Industries.  Gene enjoyed fishing and riding his motorcycle.

Gene is survived by a son, Walter Eugene Sanders, Jr.; a daughter, Tracey Gregory and her husband Jimmy of Jefferson, SC;  a brother, Joe Sanders and his wife, Janet; five grandchildren, Tristan, Alstin, and Aiden Gregory, Caleb Lucas, Avery and Summer Sanders; a special nephew, Bobby Sanders; and a special niece, Jasmine Small.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, William "Bunk" Sanders; and a sister, Brenda G. Sanders.

The family will hold a private service at a later date.
