LANCASTER, SC ~ Mr. Walter "Durward" Rainey, Jr, age 81, passed away Sunday, November 18, 2018 at Warriors Walk at Dorns VA Hospital. He was born January 19, 1937 in Sycamore, GA, a son of the late Walter Durward Rainey Sr and Reba Jane Driskell Rainey; and the husband of the late Yvonne Hudson Rainey. Mr. Rainey was an electrician and was self-employed. He loved construction and working with his hands. He served in the United States Army. Mr. Rainey was a member of Second Baptist Church.

Mr. Rainey is survived by his daughter, Angela Rainey of Lancaster; a step-son, Mike Adams of Hartsville; two grandchildren, Michael Adams and Tisha Jones; and two great-grandchildren, Dylan Adams and Ethan Jones.

Mr. Rainey was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Yvonne Rainey; and a brother, Eddie Eugene Rainey.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mr. Rainey will be 11:00 am Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at the Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home by Dr. Brian Saxon and Rev. Larry Helm. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, one hour prior to the service, at Burgess Funeral Home and suggest memorial contributions be made to Second Baptist Church Building Fund, 1426 Great Falls Hwy, Lancaster, SC 29720 or New Hope Baptist Church Building Fund, 3731 Lynwood Dr, Lancaster, SC 29720.
