LANCASTER, SC :::::::: Mr. Walter Lewis Knight, Jr., age 82, died Sunday, December 30, 2012 at his home. He was born September 28, 1930 in Kershaw County, the son of the late Walter Lewis Knight, Sr. and Hattie Fletcher Knight. Mr. Knight retired from Georgia Pacific, was a member of First Baptist Church where he had served as a Sunday school teacher and Usher and served our great country in the United States Air Force.
Mr. Knight is survived by a son,Warren Mitchell Knight of Lancaster and a daughter, Sheri Lane Knight also of Lancaster, 3 brothers, Olin D. Knight of Kershaw, Charles H. Knight and his wife Barbara of Lancaster and Jerry C. Knight and his wife Helen of Lancaster, a sister, Carolyn Knight Schlondrop and her husband Bill of Elgin, SC and a grandson, Tanner Knight.
Mr. Knight was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Knight.
The Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Mr. Knight will be 11:00 am, Friday, January 4, 2013 at The Chapel of Hartley-Burgess Funeral Home by Rev. Randy Hatcher. Entombment will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park Mausoleum.
The Family of Mr. Knight will receive friends from 6:00 -8:00 pm Thursday evening, January 3, 2012 at the funeral home and the family suggests memorials to be made to, The American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312.
