LANCASTER, SC –Mr. Walter "Butch" Franklin Ghent, age 75, passed away Monday, February 5, 2024. He was born January 4, 1949, in Lancaster, son of the late Charlie Ghent, Jr. and Billie Hinson Ghent and was the husband of Gayle Evans Ghent. Mr. Ghent was a retired truck driver. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed fishing. Mr. Ghent was a member of the Jackson Masonic Lodge. Family was his life, and he was a devoted loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was a member of Zion United Methodist Church.
Mr. Ghent is survived by his wife of 55 years, Gayle Ghent; his son, Brad Ghent (Brandy); three grandchildren, Bethany Ghent, Bricen Ghent, and Blane Ghent; two brothers, Charles Ghent (Marsy) and Mark Ghent (Lisa); a sister, Vicki Faulkenberry (Roger); and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Michael Ghent and Jerry Ghent; and a sister, Dianne Ghent Dickson.
The Celebration of Life Graveside Service for Mr. Ghent will be 1:00 pm Thursday, February 8, 2024, at Lancaster Memorial Park officiated by Rev. John Howle.
The family will greet friends following the service at the graveside. For those who wish, memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, Attn: Memorial Dept., 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
