LANCASTER, SC::::::::::Mr. W. C. Summitt, age 73, died Monday, June 21, 2010 at Carolina Specialty Hospital in Charlotte. He was born July 13, 1936 in Kings Mountain, NC, the son of the late C. C. Summitt and Mary Cosby Summitt and was the husband of Anita Stuard Summitt. Mr. Summitt retired from Springs Industries as Superintendent of Weaving, was an honorary member of Gray Ghost Hunt Club and a member of Crestview Baptist Church.Mr. Summitt is survived by his wife, Anita Stuard Summitt of the home, two sons, Barry Steven Summitt and his wife Patricia of Spartanburg and Terry Wayne Parris and his wife Tina of Cowpens, SC, two daughters, Norma Estridge and her husband Chris and Leann Summitt Arant both of Lancaster, five grandchildren, Nicole Summitt, Cassie Parris, Brett Estridge, Aimeeann Clear and Zach Clear.Mr. Summitt was preceded in death by a son, Jody Kevin Summitt, two brothers and a sister.The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mr. Summitt will be 3:00 pm, Thursday afternoon, June 24, 2010 at Hartley Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Scott Robinson with burial to follow in Kershaw City Cemetery. The Family of Mr. Summitt will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 pm Wednesday evening, June 23, 2010 at Hartley Funeral Home and suggest memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society, 128 Stonemark Lane, Columbia, SC 29210 or Crestview Baptist Church, 2228 Douglas Road, Lancaster, SC 29720.
