LANCASTER, SC::::::::::::: Mrs. Virginia Phillips Hogue, beloved wife, mother and grandmother died Thursday, December 16, 2010 at Springs Memorial Hospital. She was born October 16, 1925 in Wilkes County, NC the daughter of the late Shafter Phillips and Vado Nichols Phillips and was the wife of Bill B. Hogue. Mrs. Hogue was a graduate of Jones Business School and retired from Lancaster County Health Department after 20 years. Virginia also enjoyed volunteer work upon her retirement, volunteering at Springs Memorial Hospital, Hospice and with Alzheimer patients. As a member of First Baptist and Covenant Baptist Church, she was active in serving as a Sunday School Teacher for all ages throughout the years and a WMU member. Mrs. Hogue is survived by her husband of 63 years, Bill B. Hogue, and her four loving sons and their wives, Bill and Colleen Hogue of Magnolia, AR, Ron and Sherri Hogue of Winchester, VA, Gary and Marie Hogue of Columbia, SC, and Marty and Carol Hogue of Charleston, SC. Her eleven grandchildren left to cherish their special memories of "MeMa" are Lea (Robbie) Hardy, Andy (Tiffany) Hogue, Katie (Mark) Smyers, Larken (Richard) Pennington, Kristen (Scott) Dunn, Blake (Samantha) Hogue, Adam Hogue, Elizabeth (Brandon) Krippner, Ashleigh Hogue, Preston Hogue, and Wesley Hogue. She was blessed with ten great grandchildren. Virginia is also survived by her loving sister, Otus Beshears of Purlear, NC. The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mrs. Hogue will be 3:00 pm, Sunday, December 19, 2010 at Covenant Baptist Church by Dr. Bert Welch and Rev. Marty Hogue with burial to follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.The Family of Mrs. Hogue will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 pm, Saturday, December 18, 2010 at Hartley Funeral Home and in lieu of flowers suggest memorial contributions be made to Covenant Baptist Church, Building Fund, PO Box 578, Lancaster SC 29721.
