LANCASTER, SC ~ Virginia Whitesell Jaillette Fleming, age 90, passed away November 2, 2024.
She was born January 23, 1934, in Lancaster, SC. She was the daughter of the late William Eli Whitesell, Jr. and the late Nell Wood Whitesell, and the wife of the late Burton E. Jaillette and the late William Fleming.
Mrs. Fleming was a lifelong member of First ARP Church in Lancaster, SC, where she faithfully attended and served her entire life. Mrs. Fleming enjoyed being a homemaker as her children were growing up, and she loved gardening with her husband, Burt, as they grew roses in over 30 varieties to share with family and friends. She spent several years as an employee of the Lancaster Belk Department store where she made many friends. Mrs. Fleming later enjoyed traveling with her husband Bill Fleming to attend Atlanta Braves games, USC football games, and other destinations.
In later years, her "girlfriend club" meant a great deal to her. Many members of this club had been friends since grammar school, and they all enjoyed spending time and traveling together. Family and friends were very important to Mrs. Fleming, and she loved spending time with all of those close to her.
Mrs. Fleming is survived by her son Kevin Jaillette (Debbie); her daughter-in-law Jennifer Jaillette; grandchildren, Burton Jaillette (Emily), Eric Jaillette (Stacey), Amanda Couch (Neil), and Will Jaillette (Jordan); great -grandchildren Logan Jaillette, Cassidy Jaillette, Ryan Jaillette, Burton Jaillette, Jr., Banks McCain, Butler McCain, Addisyn Jaillette, Eli Jaillette, and Emma Couch.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Burton E. Jaillette, second husband, William Fleming; brother, Bill Whitesell; and her beloved son, Keith Jaillette.
The Celebration of Life Service for Mrs. Fleming will be Friday, November 8th, 2024 at 11:00am at First ARP Church in Lancaster, officiated by Rev. Jonathan Williams. Burial will be private.
The family will receive friends at 10:00am, one hour prior to the service in the church parlor on Friday, as well as on Thursday, November 7th, at the home of Kevin and Debbie Jaillette after 2pm.
