LANCASTER, SC:::::::::::: Mrs. Virginia Laney "Punky" Clifton, age 78, died Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at her home. She was born September 18, 1930 in Lancaster County, the daughter of the late Nebraska Laney and Nellie Carnes Laney and was the wife of Charles Edward Clifton. Mrs. Clifton retired from Springs Industries and was a member of Glenwood Heights Baptist Church.Mrs. Clifton is survived by her husband, Charles Edward Clifton of the home, a son, Mike Clifton and his wife Cheryl of Lugoff, 3 daughters, Emily Hinson, Cindy Hegler and her husband Michael, and Becky McManus and her husband Larry all of Lancaster, 2 sisters, Martha Hatley and Sandra Whitaker both of Lancaster, and 7 grandchildren, Gina Edwards, Kristi Hinson, Mandy Edwards, Brandy Hinson, Kyle Hegler, Andy Clifton, and Brian Clifton, and 4 great grandchildren.The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mrs. Clifton will be 3:00 pm, Friday, December 19, 2008 at Glenwood Heights Baptist Church by Rev. Steve Neal with burial to follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.The Family of Mrs. Clifton will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 pm Thursday evening, December 18, 2008 at Hartley Funeral Home and suggest memorial contributions be made to Glenwood Heights Baptist Church, 600 Nichols Road, Lancaster, SC 29720 or Hospice of Lancaster, 902 West Meeting Street, Lancaster SC 29720.
