LANCASTER, SC ~ Mrs. Virginia Barrett Carnes, age 74, passed away Friday, December 3, 2021. She was born August 25, 1947, in Kershaw, SC, a daughter of the late Evelyn Hopkins Barrett and the late Ray Barrett and was the wife of the late George Richard Carnes. Mrs. Carnes enjoyed cooking, crafting, decorating, and scrolling through Facebook. She loved her three girls and all her grandchildren. She was of the Baptist Faith and loved reading her Bible and daily devotions.

Mrs. Carnes is survived by three daughters, Anita Branham of Lugoff, SC, Sandra Criminger, and Lana Scott (Joel); one brother, Rayburn Barrett (Judy) of Van Wyck, SC; seven grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Carnes was preceded in death by her husband Richard Carnes; her parents, Ray and Evelyn Barrett; three brothers, Junior Boone, William Boone, and W.R. Barrett; and two sisters, Betty Hayes, and Vera Lee Knight.

The Celebration of Life Service for Mrs. Carnes will be 1:00 pm Monday, December 6, 2021, at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home officiated by Pastor Cotton Pate. Burial will follow at Kershaw City Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm one hour prior to the service at Burgess Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to Frontline Biker Church, 7728 Highway 341 Kershaw, SC, 29067.
