LANCASTER, SC::::::Mrs. Virginia Ann Jenny Walters Laney Bowers, age 77, of Lancaster, went on to sing and dance in heaven on May 11, 2016. She was born on January 29, 1939 to the late Virginia Taylor Walters and W. Arthur Walters. She was a graduate of Buford High School and worked in the sewing room of Springs Industries until her retirement.

From her first marriage with Fred C. Laney, deceased, she had her three girls, Vickie (Robert) Plyler, Freda (Kenny) White, and Tricia (Jack) Brown. She is also survived by grandchildren, Joe (Bridget) Hammond of Fort Calhoun, NE, Kristi Hammond, and Alaina Brown; and great-grandchildren, Ryan, Clayton, Ethan, Owen and Payton, and her Chihuahua, Harley. She is also survived by her husband, Wesley E. Bowers and her sister, Betty Jean Marshall, and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Bowers was preceded in death by her infant son, Clayton Laney and brothers, Louie Walters and Charles Walters.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mrs. Bowers will be 4:00 pm Saturday, May 14, 2016 at Tabernacle United Methodist Church by Rev. Heather Humphries and Rev. Dale Walters. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Piedmont Medical PICU Center in Rock Hill for the quality and compassionate care given; Gentiva Home Health, Rock Hill and Dr. Samuel Davis of COSA, also of Rock Hill. The family also appreciated the open arms extended by her new friends at the New Testament Adult Day Care Center in Monroe, NC.
