LANCASTER, SC ~ Mr. Vernon Kenneth Hallman, age 61, passed away Thursday, January 14, 2021 at MUSC Health- Lancaster Medical Center.  He was born December 2, 1959, a son of the late Kenneth Steele Hallman and Wilda Sturgis Hallman and was the husband of Teresa Howle Hallman.  Vernon was the owner and operator of Hallman Auto and Diesel.  He was very family oriented and loved spending time with his family and friends.  Vernon had many hobbies, some of which included, golfing, dirt track racing, riding motorcycles, hunting, being outdoors, chicken farming, and bee keeping.  He had a generous heart for helping others and was always out to help the "little man".  Vernon was an avid Carolina Gamecocks fan, and mechanic for several dirt track race cars.  He was very handy, could fix anything, and would help anyone in need.  His family describes him as a kind, genuine, friendly (never met a stranger), funny, quick witted, wonderful husband, father, and grandfather.  Vernon was a member of Unity ARP Church and recently began attending the House of Prayer.

Vernon is survived by his wife of 36 years, Teresa Hallman; two daughters, Kayla Hallman Taylor (Darrell), and Dayna Hallman; two grandchildren, Anna Brynn Taylor and Evans Taylor; and special friends, Dennis McAteer; Robert Storey and Ray T. Adams.

Vernon was preceded in death by his parents.

The Celebration of Life Graveside Service for Vernon will be 3:00 pm Monday, January 18, 2021 at Unity ARP Church Cemetery officiated by Rev. Charles Hammond, Dr. Jessie Adams, and Rev. Calvin Snipes.  A drop-in visitation and register signing will be Sunday, January 17, 2021 from 11:00 am-2:00 pm at Burgess Funeral Home.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the House of Prayer, 2037 Dwight Starnes Rd., Lancaster, SC 29720.
