Obituary
FORT MILL, SC :::::::::: Mr. Verlon Harry Lange, age 84, died Sunday, April 7, 2013 at his home. Mr. Lange, the son of the late Harry Lange and Ella Alewel Lange, was born on September 24, 1928 in Concordia, Mossouri. He was baptized on October 7, 1928 and confirmed on March 29, 1942 at St. Paul's Church also in Concordia, Missouri. Verlon graduated from Concordia High School in 1946, and also attended Kansas City Junior College and Rockhurst College in Kansas City. On June 4, 1950 he married Ethel Zimmerschied of Sweet Springs, Missouri, and in 1954 they moved to Kansas City, Kansas. Later they moved to Prairie Village, Kansas. He worked for the IBM Corporation from 1954 to 1987 holding various management positions in Kansas City, Los Angeles, California and Greencastle, Indiana. Retiring in 1987, they returned to California, living in Lancaster and Santa Maria, before returning to Concordia where they built their retirement home. In January 2010, they moved to Sun City Carolina Lakes in Indian Land, South Carolina.
Mr. Lange is survived by his wife, Ethel M. Lange of the home, a son, Tom Lange of Woodland Hills, CA, 2 daughters, Jane Vallaire and her husband Tom of Fort Mill and Karen Coma and her husband Steve of Charlotte, NC, 2 sisters, Lorene Thune of Carmel, IN and Elva Bailey of Independence, MO, and 2 grandchildren, Nicholas and Stephanie Coma, and 2 step granddaughters, Robin Roth and Joy Zierhut both of CA.
Mr. Lange was preceded in death by a brother Les Lange and a step-sister Ruth Wischmeier Steinbach.
The Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Mr. Lange will be 10:00 am, Thursday, April 11, 2013 at All Saints Lutheran Church of Charlotte.
The Family of Mr. Lange will receive friends immediately following the service and suggest in lieu of flowers memorials may be made to All Saints Lutheran Church Building Fund, 17030 Lancaster Highway, Charlotte, NC 28277 or Saint Paul Lutheran High School, 401 South Main Street, Concordia, Missouri 64020.
