LANCASTER, SC::::::: Mrs. Verla Crook Stevens, age 84, died Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at her home. She was born November 25, 1929 in Union, NC, the daughter of the late James Mark Crook and Roxie Melton Crook and was the wife of the late Grover "Sparky" Stevens. Mrs. Stevens retired from Springs Industries and was a faithful member of SonLight Church of the Nazarene where she served on the Steward Board and as Sunday School Superintendent and secretary. She served as Chair of Women's Ministries and was the SC District Assembly delegate. Also, she enjoyed spending time in her yard and taking care of her flower gardens, enjoying the blessings God shared with her.

Mrs. Stevens is survived by a son, Donald "Buckshot" Stevens and his wife Wilma, a daughter, Patricia "Diane" McManus and her husband Larry both of Lancaster, a brother, Van Crook and his wife Shirley of North Myrtle Beach, three sisters, Blonnie "Honey" Watts, Blessie "Jack" Haire both of Lancaster and Frances Robinson and her husband Alex Buddy Robinson of Lugoff, a brother-in-law, Shannon Trull, two sister-in-laws, Betty Crook and Brenda Crook both of Lancaster, five grandchildren, David Thomas, Donna Stevens, Brandy Grow, Brad Barrs and Brian Barrs and four great grandchildren.

Mrs. Stevens was preceded in death by two brothers, Billy "Bill" Crook and Ralph "Buddy" Crook and two sisters, Loma "Sis" Trull and Dorothy "Dot" Cook.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mrs. Stevens will be 2:00 pm, Friday, November 21, 2014 at SonLight Church of the Nazarene by Rev. Jerry Branham and Rev. Donnie Tillman. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.

The family of Mrs. Stevens will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 pm Thursday, November 20, 2014 at Burgess Funeral Home, 1800 Charlotte Highway, Lancaster, SC and suggest memorial contributions be made to SonLight Church of the Nazarene, 571 Monroe Highway, Lancaster, SC 29720.
