LANCASTER, SC::::::::::: Mrs. Vera Kathleen York Pelkey, age 89, of 1708 Hillside Avenue, died Sunday, May 4, 2008 at Magnolia Manor is Rock Hill. She was born August 23, 1918 in Ramsuer, NC the daughter of the late Alvin York and Martha Rosetta Brown York and was the wife of the late Burton Charles Pelkey, Sr. Mrs. Pelkey was a retired Nurses Aide and a member of Gateway Church of God in Indian Land. Mrs. Pelkey was survived by 3 sons, Burton Charles Pelkey, Jr. of Monroe, NC, James Pelkey and his wife Dianne of Lancaster, Jerry Eugene Pelkey and his wife Dee of Midland, NC, 2 daughters, Saundra Yvonne Pelkey Ferguson and her husband Rev. William Ferguson of Lancaster, and Frances Darlene Coltrane of Climax, NC, half brother, Larry York of Asheboro, NC, a sister, Dolly Carter of Wilmington, NC, 13 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and 24 great-great grandchildren.Mrs. Pelkey was preceded in death by 2 brothers, James York and Lloyd York.The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mrs. Pelkey will be 11:00 am, Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at Gateway Church of God in Indian Land by Rev. William Ferguson and Rev. Johnny Hefner with burial to follow at Forest Hills Cemetery in Rock Hill, SC.
