LANCASTER, SC ~ Mrs. Vadie Jackie Stacks Sowell, age 91, died Thurday, September 28, 2017 at Lancaster Convalescent Center. She was born December 11, 1925 in Monroe, NC, the daughter of the late Dexter Stacks and Betty Gettis Stacks and was the wife of the late James Thomas Sowell for 68 years. Mrs. Sowell enjoyed cooking and sewing. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Sowell was a long-time member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Mrs. Sowell is survived by her son, Mark Sowell and his wife, Debbie of Lancaster; a grandson, Scott Sowell of New York; a granddaughter, Stacey Sowell Munn and her husband, Brad of Little River, SC; a great grandson, Nicholas Munn; a great-granddaughter, Natalee Munn; and a sister, Judy King of Lancaster.

Mrs. Sowell was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; four sisters, Alma Maree, Lessie Love, Ollie Mae Blakeley and Francis Steele; and five brothers, David D. Stacks, Sebbie Stacks, Johnny Stacks, Carl Stacks and Paul Stacks.

The Celebration of Life Graveside Service for Mrs. Sowell will be 11:00 AM Saturday, September 30, 2017 with the Rev. Jimmy Fox officiating at Lancaster Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service and suggest memorial contributions be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 100 Barron Blvd., Lancaster, SC 29720.
