LANCASTER, SC ~ Mrs. Trudie Broome Funderburk, age 74, passed away Sunday, January 3, 2021 at her home.   She was born August 7, 1946 in Lancaster, a daughter of the late Jack Gainer and Almena Broom Gainer and was the wife of the late Donald Gene Funderburk, Sr.  Mrs. Funderburk was a Certified Ophthalmic Technician.  She worked for Story Eye, Charlotte Eye, Ear, Nose and Throat and retired from Horizon Eye in Charlotte.  She was a great cook and loved to share with family and friends. She was the first lady reserve police officer in the City of Lancaster and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Mrs. Funderburk is survived by two sons, Donald Gene Funderburk, Jr. and his fiancé, Sherri Wilson and David Brent Funderburk and his wife, Lynne; three grandchildren, Carly, Anna and Will; a brother, Lewis Gainer and two sisters, Raya Broughton and Jackie Montgomery.

Mrs. Funderburk was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a brother, Billy Jack Gainer.

The Celebration of Life Graveside Funeral Service for Mrs. Funderburk will be 11:00 am Saturday, January 9, 2021 at Elmwood Cemetery officiated by Rev. Jessie Adams.   The service will be private.
