VAN WYCK, SC ~ Mr. Troy C. Elmore, age 80, passed away Saturday, May 25, 2019 at MUSC Health Lancaster.  He was born July 25, 1938 in Lisbon, Louisiana, a son of the late Bertan Elmore and Norabell Whaley Elmore and was the husband of Martha Kendrick Elmore.  Mr. Elmore retired in 2001 as General Manager of Lancaster County Natural Gas Authority.  He was a very active member of the community having served on various boards and commissions during the past 35 years.  He was former member and Chairman of the City of Lancaster Gas Board, member of Southeastern Gas Association, and a member of the American Public Gas Association.  He served on the Governor's Energy Commission, was Chairman of the Lancaster County Forestry Board, and was a member of the City of Lancaster Fire Prevention Board of Appeals.  Mr. Elmore was also a member of the Van Wyck Volunteer Fire Department, Chamber of Commerce, Chairman of the Legislative Affairs Committee, served on the First Citizens Advisory Board, was a member of the Lancaster Home Builders Association, former member of the South Carolina National Bank Advisory Board, and a former member of the State Chamber of Commerce.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, working on his tractor and public service.  Mr. Elmore was a member of the Church of Christ.

Mr. Elmore is survived by his wife of 59 years, Martha Elmore; his daughter, Kelly Bishop of Lancaster; a son, Kevin Elmore and his wife Susan of Rock Hill; three grandchildren, Hannah and Joshua Bishop and Aaron Elmore and his wife Katherine; one great granddaughter, Melody Elmore; and two sisters, Connie Grafton of Louisiana and Peggy Cole of Texas.

Mr. Elmore was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Franklin Elmore and Jerry Elmore.

Mr. Elmore donated his body to the Medical University of South Carolina for research.  No services are planned to honor Mr. Elmore's request.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Van Wyck Fire Department, 4455 Old Hickory Road, Lancaster, SC  29720.
