LANCASTER, SC ~ Mr. Tony "Rooster" Mitchell Plyler, age 71, passed away Wednesday, December 22, 2021, at Atrium Health in Charlotte. He was born March 9, 1950, in Lancaster, a son of the late Lewis Plyler and Athlea Gamble Plyler. Mr. Plyler loved riding his motorcycle, loved his family and friends, and his dogs, Paco and Andy. He was of the Baptist faith.
Mr. Plyler is survived by a daughter, Angela Chandler and her husband, Jeff; and his former wife and friend, Ruthie Walters. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, William Plyler and Lewis Plyler and two sisters, Donna Plyler and Patricia Beckham.
The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mr. Plyler will be 3:00 pm Monday, December 27, 2021, at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home by Rev. Rick Hunter. Burial with military honors will be at Fort Jackson National Cemetery at a later date.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, from 2:00 – 3:00 pm, Monday at the funeral home and suggest in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Disabled American Veterans, PO Box 14301, Cincinnati, Ohio 45250-0301 or www.dav.org/donate.
