INDIAN LAND, SC ~ William (Tom) Hicks, 87, of Indian Land, SC departed this life to be with our Lord and Savior on Monday, September 21, 2021.  He died peacefully surrounded by his wife and children.  Tom was born on January 7, 1934 in Covington, VA to Vera Beatty Hicks and William Walker Hicks.  He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Doris Eppley Hicks, son William "Kevin" Hicks (Linda Schmid Hicks), daughter Sheryl Hicks Horn, and daughter Carol Hicks Cooper (late Charles R. "Bob" Cooper), 8 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

Tom graduated from Warren County High School in Front Royal, VA in 1951 and served in the Navy Reserves for 8 years.  He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Thomas Edison State University in New Jersey and a Master's degree from Central Michigan University. Tom was employed by American Viscose, FMC Corporation, Avtex Fibers, Atlantic Research Corporation, and Lenzing Fibers prior to retiring in 2002.

Tom enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, golfing, traveling, gathering information for genealogy, and daily conversations with his COD neighbors.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Belair United Methodist Church, 8095 Shelley Mullis Road, Indian Land, SC 29707.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
