INDIAN LAND, SC::::::::::Mrs. Theresa Mary Brown, age 90, died Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at Park Point Village in Rock Hill. She had been in failing health for some time and had spent her final days in the wonderful care of hospice. Theresa had lived for the past five years with her daughter, Ann Cline, and son-in law, Tim Cline at Sun City Carolina Lakes in Indian Land. Prior to that Theresa had live in Pompano Beach, Florida for more than 30 years.
Theresa was born June 29, 1925 in Perth Amboy, NJ, the daughter of the late C. Thomas Shultz and Agnes Kaltenbach Shultz and was the wife of the late Walter (Walt) L. Brown. In 1965, Walt and Theresa moved from New Jersey with their two young daughters, Ann and Patricia, to Elkhart following Walt's job. There Theresa became an active volunteer at Elkhart General Hospital. She was a member of the Elks Club Auxiliary and the Newcomers Group in Elkhart. She was an avid contract and duplicate bridge competitor and bowled in sanction leagues. She was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Elkhart where both of her daughters were married.
Following Walt's death in 1976, she moved to Florida where she was elected to the Board of Directors for the Sea Haven Condos Association serving for many years. She continued competing in both bridge and bowling for more than two decades. Theresa traveled extensively in the United States and Europe even visiting the Church in Germany where Walt had been christened.
Theresa is survived by her two daughters, Ann Cline and her husband, Timothy of Indian Land, SC and Patricia Alexander and her husband, David of Gulfport, FL.; a sister, Dorothy Lucov and her husband, Michael of Greensburg, PA.; four grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.
A funeral mass will be celebrated for Mrs. Brown at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Elkhart, Indiana at 10:00 a.m. December 3, 2015. Hartzler - Gutermuth - Inman Funeral Home in Elkhart, Indiana will be handling arrangements in Indiana.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to The American Heart Association, 4217 Park Place Court, Glen Allen, VA. 23060-9979.
