LANCASTER, SC:::::::::::: Mr. Ted Hough Carnes, age 86, died Friday, September 25, 2015 at his home. He was born July 1, 1929 in Lancaster County, a son of the late Thomas Luther Carnes, Sr. and Bessie Crenshaw Carnes and was the husband of late Mary Funderburk Carnes. Mr. Carnes was a retired carpenter, enjoyed music, gospel and country, and playing the guitar. He often visited nursing homes and played and sang for the patients. He built birdhouses and bird feeders to give away. He was a member of Hopewell United Methodist Church and attended Crestview Baptist Church.

Mr. Carnes is survived by a son, James Carnes of Lancaster and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Carnes was preceded in death by five brothers, George D. Carnes, William Ray Carnes, John Ervin Carnes, Heber Nathan Carnes and Thomas Luther Carnes, Jr. and three sisters, Parnell Carnes Craig, Grace Carnes Coker and Betty Louise Carnes Plott.

The services for Mr. Carnes will be private.

The Family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 pm Sunday evening, September 27, 2015 at Burgess Funeral Home, 1800 Charlotte Highway, Lancaster. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hopewell United Methodist Church, 3734 Heyward Hough Road, Lancaster, SC 29720.
