LANCASTER, SC::::::::::::: Mrs. Syble Knight Carnes, age 86, died Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. She was born March 31, 1923 in Lancaster County, the daughter of the late John V. Knight and Flonnie Sistare Knight and was the wife of the late Clyde J. Carnes. She operated Hopper's Kennel for many years, retired from Lancaster County as the Animal Control Officer and was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church.Mrs. Carnes is survived by a son, John Clyde Carnes and his wife Charlotte of Lancaster, 3 grandchildren, Clark Carnes and Jeffrey Carnes of Lancaster, and Crystal Sullivan of Kershaw, 2 brothers, J. L. Knight and H. N. "Cob" Knight and 3 sisters, Johnnie K. Carnes, Eloise K. Cunningham, and Doris K. Wilson all of Lancaster.Mrs. Carnes was preceded in death by a brother, Pete Knight.The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mrs. Carnes will be 3:00 pm, Thursday afternoon, April 9, 2009 at Bethlehem Baptist Church by Rev. Reggie Hopkins with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The Family of Mrs. Carnes will receive friends from 6:00 - 7:30 pm Wednesday evening, April 8, 2009 at Hartley Funeral Home and suggest memorial contributions be made to Bethlehem Baptist Church, 1841 N. Rocky River Road, Lancaster, SC 29720 or to the Capital Improvement Fund of Bethlehem Baptist Church.
