Mr. Charles Steven "Steve" Whitaker, age 42, passed away Friday, July 28, 2023. He was born April 22, 1981, in Charlotte, NC, the son of Charles Elliott Whitaker and Lynn Mahaffey Whitaker. Steve enjoyed drag racing, working on cars, all sports, playing games on his phone, and watching his nieces go kart races. Family was very important to him, and he loved them all dearly, especially his daughter, Hannah.

Steve is survived by his daughters, Hannah Whitaker and Erica Shrader; granddaughter, Kingsleigh Brunson; his mother, Lynn Whitaker (Johnny); his father, Charles Whitaker; his brother, Robert Whitaker (Tabitha); grandmothers, Judy Whitaker and Ruth Mahaffey; mother of his daughter Hannah, Jessica Bax; three nieces, Raegan Whitaker, Bailey Whitaker, and Anslee Whitaker; and extended family and many friends.

Steve was preceded in death by his nephew, Anson Whitaker; and grandfathers, Bobby Whitaker and Jim Mahaffey.

The Celebration of Life Service for Steve will be 3:00 pm Thursday, August 3, 2023, at Bethlehem Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Zach Byrd. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2:00pm – 3:00pm, one hour prior to the service in the church fellowship hall and other times at the home of Robert and Tabitha Whitaker. In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to NEC Society, 140 B Street, Suite 5, #128 Davis, CA 95616 or to The Office of Development, Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, Florida 33607.

The family request that you please dress casually and/or wear superhero shirts for the funeral; as Steve was a simple guy who would want everyone to be comfortable.
