LANCASTER, SC ::::::::::Mr. Steven Epps, Sr., age 84, of 618 West Glen Place, died Saturday, January 31, 2009 at Springs Memorial Hospital. He was born August 24, 1924 in Fort Mill, the son of the late Walter Monroe Epps and Maggie Stevens Epps and was the husband of the late Mary Patterson Epps. Mr. Epps was a retired Plant Manager for Springs Industries and a member of the 50 year Club and a member of Covenant Baptist Church. He was a 1949 Clemson graduate, a Rotarian, a Lifetime IPTAY member, on the Clemson Board of Visitors and the Clemson Alumni National Council, was a Past Chairman of Founders Federal Credit Union, Past President of Southern Textile Association and a Past member of Chester County School Board. Mr. Epps also served our great country in the United States Army during WWII; he was a D-Day Paratrooper for the 82nd Airborne PIR 505 F-Troop.Mr. Epps is survived by a son, Steven Epps, Jr. of Mauldin, SC, a daughter, Angie E. Baker and her husband Roger of Lancaster, 6 grandchildren, Kim Epps, Brittany Epps, Stephanie Morris and her husband Doug, Steven Epps, III, Mary Margaret Porter, Andy Porter and his wife Tiffany and 1 great grandchild, Jacob Porter. The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mr. Epps will be 3:00 pm Monday, February 2, 2009 at Covenant Baptist Church by Dr. Bert Welch with burial to follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.
