LANCASTER, SC –Mr. Eric Stephen "Steve" Pettit, age 65, of Lancaster, passed away Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born December 18, 1958, in Lancaster, a son of the late Joseph Franklin Pettit, Jr. and Eleanor Pettit-Brouwer and was the husband of Tammy Cauthen Pettit. Steve was a very talented building contractor, who was an exceptional craftsman when it came to installing moldings and had the ability to construct a masterpiece from a small sketch. He enjoyed being outdoors, working on his farm, watching wildlife, fishing, and riding horses. Family was most important to him, and he was a very devoted loving husband and father. His wife Tammy and his daughter Paige were his whole world. Steve was a very outgoing, friendly person who enjoyed spending time with his family and daily phone conversation with his many friends.
Steve is survived by his wife of 24 years, Tammy Pettit; his daughter, Paige Pettit and her boyfriend, Chance Jordan of Lancaster; two brothers, Adrian Pettit and his wife Denise and Bryan Pettit and his wife Lisa all of Lancaster; a sister, Pam Vaughn and her husband Randy of Lancaster; his stepfather, Don Brouwer; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The Celebration of Life Service for Steve will be 11:00 am Friday, February 16, 2024, at St. Luke United Methodist Church officiated by Rev. Douglas Pate. Inurnment will be private.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. one hour prior to the service, at St. Luke United Methodist Church and other times at the home of Steve, Tammy, and Paige.
