LANCASTER, SC ~ Mr. Steve Harrison Barr, age 87, passed away Monday, April 19, 2021 at MUSC-Lancaster.  He was the son of the late Collier Harrison Barr and Wilma Leona Deese Barr and was the husband of the late Doris Belk Barr.  Mr. Barr retired from the State Highway Department as shop foreman.  He was a member of New Cut Presbyterian Church where he had served in many capacities.

Mr. Barr is survived by a nephew, Gary H. Peagler; two nieces, Pam Sims and Janet Pate; and many great nieces and nephews.

Mr. Barr was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Doris Belk Barr; two nephews, Jerry Sims and Jackie Sims; a sister, Margaret Leona Sims; and a sister-in-law, Marcia Hoffman and her husband, Bobby Hoffman.

The Celebration of Life Service for Mr. Barr will be 2:00 pm Thursday, April 22, 2021 at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home officiated by Rev. Wayne Dickson. Burial will follow at New Cut Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to New Cut Presbyterian Church, 2617 New Cut Church Road, Lancaster, SC  29720 or Hopewell United Methodist Church, 3734 Heyward Hough Road, Lancaster, SC  29720.
