LANCASTER, SC ~ Mrs. Stella S. Funderburk-West, age 81, passed away Friday, June 18, 2021, at her home surrounded by her family after a long and courageous battle with cancer.  She was born in Lancaster, a daughter of the late Johnny Tillman Shehane and Thelma Shehane Likens.  Stella was first married to the late Ted R. Funderburk and was later married to the late Walter B. West.  Stella was a graduate of Presbyterian School of Nursing and retired after 42 years of service to her community.  She loved spending time with her children and her grandson, Pierce. As long as she was on a ball field with a hot dog, she was happy.  Stella was an active member of Bethlehem Baptist Church having taught Sunday school for over 30 years.

Stella is survived by her children, Troy Funderburk and Kimberly Funderburk; a grandson, Pierce L. Funderburk; a sister, Judy Munn and her husband, Jimmy and a host of nieces and nephews.

Stella was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Ted Funderburk and her second husband, Walter West; and a brother, Marvin Shehane.

The Celebration of Life Graveside Service for Stella will be 3:00 pm Sunday, June 20, 2021 at Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery officiated by Rev. Patrick Blackmon and Rev. Zack Byrd. Stella will be in the church sanctuary Sunday from 2:00 – 2:45 pm for anyone who would like to pay their respects.
