LANCASTER, SC :::::::::: Mr. Simeon "Sim" Russell Courtney, age 92, of 1247 John Everall Road, died Sunday, March 7, 2010. He was born December 17, 1917 in Lancaster County, the son of the late Rufus Courtney and Sudie Carnes Courtney. He was married to Janie Ragsdale Stogner Courtney and the late Evelyn Parker Courtney. Mr. Courtney retired from Springs Industries as Superintendent of Preparation, was a Mason and Shriner and a member of Zion United Methodist Church.Mr. Courtney is survived by his wife, Janie Ragsdale Stogner Courtney of the home, three sons, Ricky Stogner and his wife Cathy, Marty Stogner and his wife Carol and Randy Stogner all of Lancaster, three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.Mr. Courtney was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Neely, two brothers, Carlisle Courtney and Curlee Courtney, and a sister, Sylvia Jane McDaniel.The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mr. Courtney will be 11:00 am, Tuesday morning, March 9, 2010 at The Chapel of Hartley Funeral Home by Rev. Jim Elder and Rev. Cecil Johnson with burial to follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.The Family of Mr. Courtney will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 pm Monday evening, March 8, 2010 at Hartley Funeral Home and suggest memorial contributions to Zion United Methodist Church Building Fund, 1665 Zion Road, Lancaster, SC 29720 or the American Red Cross, Lancaster Chapter, 106-C Woodland Drive, Lancaster, SC 29720.
