YORK, SC ~ Ms. Shirley Gales Guyton, age 85, passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2022. She was born July 25, 1936, in Kannapolis, NC, a daughter of the late Foley Scott William Gales and the late Mildred Louise Barnhardt Gales Wallace.  Ms. Guyton loved to travel. "If the bus is going, she is going".

Ms. Guyton is survived by her daughter Karen Burbach of Rock Hill; her sons, Marvin Steele (Bobby) of Salisbury, NC, and Tripp Pate (Christie) of York; daughter-in-law, Rita Steele of Rock Hill; seven grandchildren, Wesley Barrett (Cathy), Kris Robinson (Alice), Tyler Steele, Holly Wilson, Bailey Iannone, Amber Durham, and Tiffany Rose; four great granddaughters, Michelle Baker, Victoria Baker, Kathleen Baker, and Cheyenne Barrett; and two great great-grandchildren, Emory and Meadow.

Ms. Guyton was preceded in death by her son, Melvin Lee Steele; and her parents, Foley Gales and Mildred Gales Wallace.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Ms. Guyton will be 12:00 pm on Tuesday, May 17, 2022, at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home officiated by Rev. Chris Mitchell. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 11:00am – 12:00 pm, one hour prior to the service, at Burgess Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to East View Baptist Church, 1430 Gordon Rd, Rock Hill, SC 29732.
