LANCASTER, SC ~ Mrs. Shirley Sims Faulkenberry, age 85, passed away Tuesday, July 6, 2021, at her home. She was born September 17, 1935, the youngest of ten children of the late Grover Sims and Nannie Shehane Sims and was the wife of the late James Smith Faulkenberry.  Mrs. Faulkenberry was an excellent cook and loved cooking for her family and friends.  She also enjoyed bird watching, flowers, collecting miniature figurines, and was an avid reader.  Mrs. Faulkenberry experienced different careers which included, Springs Industries, Owner/Operator of a Furniture business she shared with her husband, Real Estate Broker and GRI which she also shared with her husband, and finally her passion being an LPN for Springs Memorial Hospital for over 25 years.  Her family remembers her as a compassionate, loving, and fashionable individual whom they loved dearly.  Mrs. Faulkenberry was a member of Second Baptist Church Lancaster where she enjoyed serving.

Mrs. Faulkenberry is survived by her daughter, Cindy Williams (Chuck); her son, Marty Faulkenberry (Gayle); five grandchildren, Melanie Shull (Kendt), Megan Williams, Christi Gardner, Amanda Scott (Benji), and Charlotte Cloud (Kapp); twelve great grandchildren; 2 brothers-in-law, Frank Faulkenberry, and Ezra Faulkenberry (Ann); 2 sisters-in-law, Joan Robinson, and Annie Ray Brown; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Faulkenberry was preceded in death by her husband, J. Smith Faulkenberry; her parents; and nine siblings.

The Celebration of Life Service for Mrs. Faulkenberry will be 3:00 pm Sunday, July 11, 2021, at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home officiated by Dr. Frankie Melton and Rev. David Carlton.  Entombment will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park Mausoleum.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00 pm, one hour prior to the service, at Burgess Funeral Home.  For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to Agape Care, 311 N Main St B, Lancaster, SC 29720, or a charity of one's choosing.

The family would like to say a special thank you to several caregivers who loved and cared for Mrs. Faulkenberry.  Those caregivers include, Pat Troupe, Barbara Stradford, Gloria White, Donna Bailey, and the staff of Agape Care.
