Obituary

LANCASTER, SC ~ Shaun Christopher "Chris" Jenkins, 33, passed away Saturday, December 8, 2018 at Carolinas Medical Center – Pineville. He was born October 9, 1985, a son of Dell Jenkins and Teresa Luckadoo Jenkins. Chris was the former owner of Buford Shrimp Boat. He was saved in early 2018. Chris loved the Lord and loved serving in his church. He helped with local missions on the streets and with youth camp. He shared the love of God with everyone he met. Chris loved his church, Antioch Baptist, and his pastor very much. He read his Bible for hours. Chris also loved spending time with his family; his Dad, brother and son, while boating, golfing, fishing and hunting. He was an avid sportsman, loved the Carolina Gamecocks, Duke Basketball and spending time with his fiancé, Hannah and his children. He was an awesome father to Jacob and Caylee, teaching and loving them dearly.
Chris managed the Memorial Park Shrimp Boat for a few years helping his family. He later had an opportunity to open Buford Shrimp Boat with the help of his Dad and fiancé. He worked hard with long hours and the business did well. He especially enjoyed hiring and training teens for their first jobs to make a difference in their lives. This was a family tradition of inspiring teens to work and stay drug free and be responsible.
Chris faced many challenges in his life. He was diagnosed at age three with a very rare kidney cancer. He had many years of remission but after thirty years, he was diagnosed with another very rare cancer, Neuroendocrine Small Cell Lung Cancer. This was due to the radiation he received as a child. He was a fighter every day of his life, but he faced his challenges with great courage. This year he faced one obstacle after another until God called him home.
Chris is survived by his parents, Dell and Teresa Jenkins; his fiancé, Hannah Bowers; his children, Caylee Savannah Jenkins and Timothy Jacob Scott; a brother and his best friend, Jimmy Jenkins and his wife, Cassie and their children, Addison and Ayden Jenkins; a sister, Jessica J. Terry and her husband, Jared and their daughter, Emily Terry; and his two dogs that he loved dearly, Bella and Maggie.
Chris was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Jimmy and Becky Jenkins and his maternal grandmother, Shirley M. Gibson.
The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Chris will be 3:00 pm Saturday, December 15, 2018 at Antioch Baptist Church officiated by Dr. Trent McLaughlin and Rev. Mitch Ingram. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to #Team Chris Forever Memorial for his children or to Antioch Baptist Church, Children of Chris Jenkins, 3052 Taxahaw Road, Lancaster, SC 29720.
